LONDON, July 24 -- Eni SPA has tested 190,000 cu m/day of natural gas from the deepwater Cassiopea 1 well, which lies in 560 m of water 22 km off Agrigento, Sicily.
"These initial encouraging results signal higher production during the normal life of the field," the company said, adding that the field has gas reserves estimated at 16 billion cu m.
Eni is evaluating development options and hopes to fast-track Cassiopea because it is connected with neighboring Panda and Argo fields through subsea systems. "This discovery confirms the high potential of the Sicilian Strait deep offshore area," Eni said.
