Santos Ltd. and partners have drilled three oil discoveries in the Cooper-Eromanga basin of South Australia and Queensland during the last weeks of 1990.
The 1 Jarrar wildcat flowed 1,466 b/d of 45 gravity oil through a 1/2 in. choke from Jurassic Hutton at 5,900-942 ft on Queensland permit ATP 259P 7 miles east of Jackson/Mooliampah oil pipeline. The 41 Gidgealpa tapped an apparent Permian Tirrawarra oil rim around the south dome of Gidgealpa gas field, flowing 600 b/d of oil and 380 Mcfd of gas through a 1/2 in. choke on PPL 6 25 km northwest of Moomba treating plant in South Australia. Appraisal drilling is planned in 1991. The 5 Alwyn development well opened Jurassic Namur pay in Alwyn field on PPL 36 about 45 km south-southeast of the main Moomba treatment plant. Flow was 270 b/d of 40 gravity oil through a 1/2 in. choke from 4,163-76 ft.
