Spirit Energy Ltd. let a decommissioning contract to Well-Safe Solutions to add a well from Appleton field, 160 miles east of Dundee, to the existing scope of the Well-Safe Defender semi-submersible rig.
Spirit Energy Ltd. let a decommissioning contract to Well-Safe Solutions to add a well from Appleton field, 160 miles east of Dundee, to the existing scope of the Well-Safe Defender semi-submersible rig.
This project will add about 1 month of work to the backlog of the Well-Safe Defender, which mobilized in March 2023 to plug and abandon 14 wells on the UK continental shelf for Spirit Energy.
The addition of the Appleton well follows the successful decommissioning of wells in Chestnut and Trees fields, the latter ongoing.
Appleton field was originally discovered in 1997 by Amoco and Amerada Hess.
