Woodside Energy Ltd. has progressed a decommissioning project at Enfield oil field offshore Western Australia with the successful lift of the riser turret mooring (RTM) of the Nganhurra floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO).

The RTM has been lifted onto a barge off North West Cape in Western Australia and is now transiting to the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) near Perth where it will be cleaned and deconstructed in preparation for recycling and reuse, the operator said in a release Oct. 20.

Heavy lift vessel Heerema Aegir, with three supporting tugs, lifted the 2,500 tonne RTM onto a 120 m barge where it was secured ahead of its journey to the AMC (OGJ Online, July 26, 2022).

The Nganhurra RTM is about 83 m long and brought subsea production lines from Enfield field to the FPSO. Enfield ceased production in November 2018. The RTM was removed as part of decommissioning activities at the field, which also includes the permanent plugging of 18 former production wells.

Enfield lies about 50 km northwest of Exmouth on the Western Australian coast in license WA-28-L in the Carnarvon basin.
