Operators let contracts to Saipem in Black Sea, North Sea
Turkish Petroleum OTC and EnQuest Heather Ltd. separately contracted Saipem SPA for work in the Black Sea and North Sea with a total value of $850 million.
Turkish Petroleum OTC has let a contract to Saipem SPA for the second phase of Sakarya FEED and engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of a 175 km long, 16-in. pipeline in 2,200 m of water in the Turkish Black Sea (OGJ Online, Oct. 15, 2021).
Offshore operations are to begin in summer 2024 and will be conducted by Saipem’s Castorone vessel. Saipem recently completed the first phase of Sakarya gas field development, awarded by Turkish Petroleum OTC in 2021.
EnQuest Heather Ltd. has let a decommissioning contract to Saipem for the Thistle A platform in the UK sector of the North Sea, about 510 km northeast of Aberdeen in 162 m of water (OGJ Online, Feb. 1, 2018). Saipem will engineer, prepare, remove, and dispose of the jacket and topsides, with possible extension to further subsea infrastructure.
Activities will be carried out by the Saipem 7000, one of the largest semisubmersible heavy lifting vessels in the world, the service provider said.
