Prosperity FPSO arrives in Guyana waters for ExxonMobil
ExxonMobil is preparing for Payara production to begin later this year as the Prosperity floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) has arrived in Guyana waters. Installation campaigns are ongoing and development drilling is under way.
Constructed by SBM Offshore, the FPSO will develop the Payara project offshore Stabroek block. It has an initial production capacity of around 220,000 b/d of oil and an overall storage volume of 2 million bbl.
With 10 drill centers, the Payara project will develop Payara and Pacora resources, according to ExxonMobil's website. There are 41 wells planned, including 20 production wells and 21 water and gas injection wells.
Announced in January 2017, Payara is ExxonMobil’s second oil discovery in Stabroek block. The Payara- 1 well was drilled in a new reservoir, encountering more than 95 ft (29 m ) of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs. It was drilled to 18,080 ft (5,512 m) in 6,660 ft (2,030 m) of water.
The company's seventh oil discovery in the block, announced in February 2018, Pacora was announced in February 2018. The Pacora- 1 well was drilled in a new reservoir, encountering about 65 ft (20 m) of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone reservoir. The well was drilled to 18,363 ft (5,597 m) depth in 6,781 ft (2,067 m) of water.
Prosperity FPSO joins the Liza Destiny and Liza Unity FPSOs, which are currently producing more than 380,000 b/d. Production from the Prosperity vessel is expected to push daily production to some 600,000 b/d in 2024.
