Shell has let a contract to Expro for the provision of a subsea landing string integrated package for the Gumusut-Kakap deepwater field offshore Malaysia.
The contract is for a fixed scope of work on four development wells, the service provider said.
Gumusut-Kakap, in 1,200 m water depth, is Shell’s first deepwater project in Malaysia. Annual peak oil production is 148,000 b/d. First oil was reached in October 2014.
Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. is the operator of the development with 33% interest. The project comprises 19 subsea wells, with oil exported via a 200-km long pipeline to an oil and gas terminal in Kimanis, Sabah.
