United Oil & Gas receives offshore Jamaica license extension
United Oil & Gas PLC (UOG) received an extension for the Walton Morant license, offshore Jamaica, by the Jamaican Cabinet.
UOG is seeking a strategic drilling partner with a view to drilling the primary 3D seismic defined Colibri prospect, which is estimated to hold mean prospective resources of 406 million bbl.
The license covers an area of 22,400 sq km and has numerous plays and prospects already identified across three separate basins (OGJ Online Aug. 2, 2020). There is strong evidence of a hydrocarbon system in Jamaica, including source, reservoir, and seal rocks with 11 high graded leads and prospects combined for a potential estimated 2.4 billion bbl mean prospective resources, the company said.
An amendment to the production sharing agreement (PSA) will be submitted to the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET) for final signature in mid-December 2021. Following completion of the approval process, the license will run to Jan. 31, 2024.
United is operator (100%) at Walton Morant.
