Idemitsu Gas Production (Vietnam) Co. Ltd. completed the largest floatover installation of a central processing platform topside in Vietnam for Sao Vang and Dai Nguyet (SVDN) gas and condensate fields in the Nam Con Son basin, offshore Vietnam.
The platform was installed 350 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City in 772 ft of water by McDermott and weighs 14,500 metric tons. Installation was achieved through a tight-slot floatover with less than 4-in. clearance on either side.
Previously, McDermott's Derrick Barge 30 (DB30) performed a 12,600 metric tons jacket launch which was the heaviest and largest jacket launched in Vietnam at that water depth.
The fields were discovered through exploration under production sharing contract for Blocks 05-1b and 05-1c, signed with PetroVietnam Co. in 2004. After the Vietnamese government approved the field development plan in 2017, construction of facilities was successfully completed and production of gas and condensate from Sao Vang field commenced in November 2020. Production from Dai Nguyet is expected in early 2022.
Idemitsu is operator of the fields (43.08%) with partners INPEX Con Son Co. Ltd. (36.92%) and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) (20%).
