TotalEnergies plans seismic acquisition for new Suriname blocks

TotalEnergies will run a 3D seismic acquisition campaign with partner Qatar Petroleum on two licenses awarded in the Suriname SHO Bid Round 2020/2021 to confirm their potential.

TotalEnergies will run a 3D seismic acquisition campaign with partner Qatar Petroleum on two licenses awarded in the Suriname Shallow Offshore (SHO) Bid Round 2020/2021 to confirm their potential (OGJ Online, June 21, 2021).

The partners were awarded Block 6 and Block 8 in water depths of 30-50 m adjacent to TotalEnergies’ operated Block 58, where four significant discoveries have been made since January 2020.

TotalEnergies will operate the blocks with a 40% working interest, alongside Qatar Petroleum (20%) and the national company Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname NV  (40%).

Staatsolie received 10 bids for 3 of the 8 blocks on offer.
