Eni UK has agreed to farm out 50% interest in license P2511 on the UK Continental Shelf to Aker BP UK, a new subsidiary of Aker BP in Norway. Eni UK will remain operator.
The license lies near the border of the Norwegian continental shelf. Aker BP as operator has several discoveries in the Alvheim area on the Norwegian side, following an exploration campaign in 2019 (OGJ Online, July 23, 2019).
Together, the companies will explore the resource potential across the UK border in the greater Alvheim area.
The transaction is subject to formal approval by the UK Oil & Gas Authority.
