BP Angola has let an integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract to TechnipFMC for development of Platina field offshore Angola. The field lies in Block 18 at water depths of 1,200-1,500 m. Start-up is planned for 2021.
The contract, valued at $75-250 million by the service provider, covers the manufacture, delivery, and installation of the subsea equipment including subsea trees, a production manifold with associated subsea control and connection systems, as well as rigid pipelines, umbilicals, and flexible jumpers.
Discovered in 1999, Platina field is planned to be developed as a subsea tie-back to the existing Greater Plutonio floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (FPSO). Platina would be BP’s first new operated development in Angola since the PSVM project in Block 31 began production in 2013. It would be the second phase of development in Block 18 – the Greater Plutonio project started up in 2007.
BP operates Platina with 46%. Sonangol Sinopec International Ltd. holds 54%.
