Wintershall Dea Norge AS has been granted a drilling permit by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for an exploration well in license 894 in the Norwegian Sea.
Well 6604/6-1—the second to be drilled on the license—will be drilled 56 km south of the Asterix discovery (6705/10-1), 15 km east of the Balderbra discovery (6604/5-1), and 110 km southwest of Aasta Hansteen field. It will be drilled from Saipem's Scarabeo 8 semisubmersible drilling rig after a stay at the shipyard.
Wintershall is operator with 40% interest. Partners are Equinor Energy AS, 40%; and Petoro AS, 20%.
The area in the license consists of parts of Blocks 6604/5, 6604/6, 6605/4, 6605/5 and 6605/7.
