Aker BP ASA drill dry well at North Sea Njargasas prospect
Aker BP ASA and license partners drilled a dry well in the Njargasas prospect in the North Sea.
Exploration well 35/6-5 S, the first in production license 1110, was drilled to a vertical depth of 3,933 m subsea by the Odfjell Deepsea Nordkapp semisubmersible drilling rig, the Norwegian Offshore Directorate reported. The well was terminated in the Åsgard formation in the Lower Cretaceous.
The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in Lower Cretaceous reservoir rocks in the Agat formation.
The well encountered the formation with a total depth of 176 m, of which a total of 97 m consisted of sandstone layers with poor to moderate reservoir quality.
Water depth at the site is 332 m. The well has been permanently plugged.
Aker BP is operator of the license with 55% interest. Partners are Vår Energi ASA (30%) and Harbour Energy Norge AS (15%).
