Texcal Energy drills dry hole in Indonesia

Texcal Energy Mahato drilled a dry hole in exploration well PSC PC-01 in the Mahato PSC in Central Sumatra.

Texcal Energy Mahato drilled a dry hole in the Mahato PSC in Central Sumatra, Indonesia, said Cue Energy Ltd. in a Dec. 4 release.

The well, PSC PC-01, was spudded on Nov. 4, 2024, and was drilled to a depth of 5,800 ft. Following completion of drilling, wireline logging identified zones of interest within the Bekasap formation. 

Subsequent testing did not produce hydrocarbons. The company will plug the well.

Commercial oil production started at Mahato in early 2021, beginning with well PB-1. Mahato 2P reserves are 1.4 million boe. 

Texcal Energy Mahato is operator at PSC PC-01 (72.25%) with partners Central Sumatra Energy (11.5%), Cue Energy (11.25%), and Riau Petroleum (5%).
