UK: Dual lateral Singleton oil field well to spud
Providence Resources PLC will spud a planned dual lateral well in Singleton oil field in the Weald basin in the southern onshore UK within 3 weeks.
The field, 7 km north of Chichester in PL 240, produces 900 b/d of oil equivalent from seven wells in the Jurassic Great Oolite formation. Singleton has yielded 3.7 million bbl of 37° gravity oil since 1989, a 3.5% recovery factor based on 2008 studies that suggested as much as 107 million bbl of oil in place. Published data from similar fields in the area indicate an ultimate recovery factor of up to 10% should be achievable.
The main wellbore 16,800 ft in length should provide more than 4,000 ft of exposure to the hydrocarbon reservoir, and a subsequent lateral could double that figure. The well has been designed to allow for future massive acid stimulation, thereby providing further incremental production potential.
Providence is operator with 99.125% interest, and Noble Energy (Europe) Ltd. has 0.8725%.
