Equinor Energy AS started drilling operations on the Ginny exploration well 6407/9-13 from the West Hercules rig, according to a release by partner OKEA ASA (OGJ Online, Oct. 25, 2021).
The well, in production license (PL)1060 northwest of Draugen field in the North Sea, targets both an Upper Jurassic (Ginny) and a Middle Jurassic (Hermine) prospect located between Galtvort and Hasselmus discoveries.
The well is the first of three exploration wells OKEA will drill in 2022, all focused on near-field exploration near Draugen and Gjøa producing fields, said Andrew McCann, senior vice-president subsurface and wells, OKEA.
Equinor is operator of PL1060 (31%) with partners OKEA (40%), Chrysaor Norge AS (20%), and Longboat Energy Norge AS (9%).
