Occidental’s 1PointFive subsidiary has signed an agreement with Enterprise Products Partners LP for the development of a CO2 transportation network to support the Bluebonnet sequestration hub that 1PointFive is developing in southeast Texas.
Under the transportation services agreement, once 1PointFive provides notice, Enterprise will develop a new pipeline network and provide fee-based transportation services to 1PointFive to transport CO2 emissions captured by third parties at facilities in the vicinity of the Houston Ship Channel to 1PointFive’s Bluebonnet hub. The new pipeline network will be co-located with existing pipeline infrastructure.
The Bluebonnet hub lies in Chambers, Liberty, and Jefferson counties, near refineries, chemical plants, and manufacturing facilities along the Gulf Coast from Beaumont to Houston. Expected to be operational in 2026, the hub will provide for CO2 captured offsite to be securely stored in saline formations not associated with oil and gas production.
1PointFive’s Bluebonnet sequestration nub was recently awarded funding from the US Department of Energy to support the project's development (OGJ Online, Oct. 3, 2024).
