Petrobras lets contracts in move to electrify Búzios production system
April 16, 2024
Petrobras has awarded three contracts to SLB for hardware and completion services for up to 35 subsea wells in Petrobras' Búzios Wave II offshore oil field development.
The scope of the contract includes SLB's full-pass electric range control valves and underground electric safety valves as Petrobras looks to convert to electrical completions.
“The electrification of completions enables maximum control of production in several reservoir drains, which will potentially require fewer wells and limit heavy workovers during the productive life of Búzios field wells,” the service provider said in a release Apr. 15.
Much of the technology to be implemented in Búzios, and available to other Brazilian presalt field operators, was developed at SLB's Taubaté Engineering Center, in Brazil, for the Brazilian presalt, in collaboration with CENPES, the Petrobras research center, and TotalEnergies.
