Enbridge plans joint development of hydrogen, ammonia production and export
May 6, 2022
Enbridge Inc. and Humble Midstream LLC (an EnCap Flatrock Midstream portfolio company) agreed to jointly develop and market a low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia production and export terminal at the 1.6-million b/d Enbridge Ingleside Energy Center (EIEC) near Corpus Christi, Tex. (OGJ Online, Sept. 7, 2021).
The companies envision up to 95% of the carbon dioxide (CO2) generated in the production process will be sequestered in newly developed carbon capture infrastructure, including facilities to be owned and operated by Enbridge. Enbridge's affiliate, Texas Eastern Transmission Pipeline, is expected to provide transportation service for feed gas that will be used for the production process.
Discussions with potential offtake customers have begun. Construction will be subject to sufficient customer support and receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals.
