Santos starts Halyard-2 infill production
Santos Ltd. started production from the Halyard-2 infill well offshore western Australia.
The well is online 6 weeks ahead of schedule and will supply an incremental 65 MMscfd into Varanus Island, the company said in a release Feb. 13. Further, the company said, it will convert about 9 MMboe of sales gas and condensate to 2P developed reserves.
Santos managing director and chief executive officer Kevin Gallagher said that this short-cycle captial expenditure project will deliver incremental low-cost volumes into the portfolio through to 2027 and will help reduce unit production costs in 2025.
Gas from Spar-Halyard field is piped to the Santos-operated Varanus Island processing location. The sales gas is then transported to mainland Western Australia via two 100-km pipelines where it is supplied to major mining and industrial customers.
