Jindal, Pruitt renew state GOP groups' call to reject BLM frac rules
Dec. 19, 2012
The Republican Governors and Republican Attorneys General Associations renewed a request to US President Barack Obama to reject the US Bureau of Land Management’s proposed regulation of hydraulic fracturing.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Oklahoma Atty. Gen. E. Scott Pruitt said that they had not received a response to a July 10 letter then-RGA Chairman Robert F. McDonnell of Virginia and Pruitt wrote Obama.
Jindal is the current RGA chairman, and Pruitt is chairman of the Republican Attorneys General Association.
“BLM’s proposed rule only will discourage exploration and production on federal and Indian lands, potentially costing the federal government—and states that share in federal royalties—billions of dollars in revenue,” Jindal and Pruitt said in their Dec. 17 letter.
Jindal and Pruitt asked the White House, Office of Management and Budget, and the US Department of the Interior to carefully review comments received from state governments in response to the proposed frac rule.
