BW Energy starts production from Dussafu well
BW Energy Ltd. started production from the DHBSM-1H well in Hibiscus South field on the Dussafu License offshore Gabon. Production started 5 months after the initial discovery was made in November 2023.
DHBSM-1H is about 5 km southwest of the MaBoMo production platform in a separate accumulation with a deeper oil-water contact than nearby Hibiscus field. The well was drilled as a horizontal extension from the upper portion of well DHBSM-1 to a total depth of 5,960 m into Gamba sandstone reservoir (OGJ Online, Nov. 16, 2023).
Production from the well has been in line with expectations and is currently stabilized at about 5,000-6,000 bo/d. The well is expected to recover 6.6 million bbl from about 22 million bbl of oil in place, based on third party 2P estimates.
Following completion of DHBSM-1H, the Borr Norve jackup has commenced drilling operations on the Ruche sidetrack well (DRM-3H ST1).
The Dussafu Marin permit is in the Ruche Exclusive Exploitation Area (Ruche EEA) and covers 850 sq km and includes six discovered oil fields as well as leads and prospects in a proven oil and gas play fairway within Southern Gabon basin. Hibiscus and Ruche fields are being developed together and tied back to the BW Adolo FPSO stationed at Tortue field.
BW Energy is operator at Dussafu Marin (73.5%) with partner Panoro Energy (17.5%) and Gabon Oil Comp. (9%).
