Crescent Point restores most production previously shut in by wildfire risk

Crescent Point has restored about 75% of the production previously shut in due to wildfires in the Alberta region with no damage reported to its assets.

Crescent Point Energy Corp., Calgary, has restored about 75% of the production previously shut in due to wildfires in the Alberta region with no damage reported to its assets. Full restoration of remaining production is planned once it is safe to do so, the company said in a release May 10.

The company on May 8 said it had temporarily shut-in about 45,000 boe/d of production in the Kaybob Duvernay in response to the wildfires. Its production and assets associated with the Montney were not impacted, it said (OGJ Online, May 8, 2023).

A May 9 update on the Alberta wildfires from Canadian regulators said that while evacuation orders for some areas have been lifted, thousands remain evacuated from northern and central Alberta communities.

As of 5 p.m., May 9, there were 82 active wildfires in the Forest Protection Area, 24 of which were classified as out of control.
