VAALCO Energy Inc. has completed the Avouma 3H-ST development well drilled from the Avouma platform in Etame field, offshore Gabon. The initial flow rate was about 3,100 gross b/d, above VAALCO’s expectations.

This sidetrack well has a lateral of 268 m and targeted existing high-quality Gamba hydrocarbons at the top of a structure that has not previously been produced by prior wells (OGJ Online, April 11, 2022).

This is the second successful well of VAALCO’s 2021/2022 drilling campaign.

Drilling has commenced on ETBSM 1HB-ST, the next well in the program, also on the Avouma platform. The well will target the Gamba reservoir and test the Dentale formation at South Tchibala which has not yet been delineated in this area but is productive in other sections of the the Etame license.

VAALCO is operator in Etame Marin block (63.6%) with partners Addax Petroleum Co. (33.9%) and PetroEnergy Resources Corp. (2.5%).
