BOE Exploration & Production lets ultra-deepwater rig contract

BOE Exploration & Production let a rig contract to Diamond Offshore Drilling for work in the US Gulf of Mexico.

BOE Exploration & Production LLC has let a contract to Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. for the Ocean BlackRhino ultra-deepwater drillship for work in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The contract has a minimum duration of 180 days for a total value of about $89 million, excluding mobilization and any additional services. The contract also includes two additional option periods. Work under the new contract is expected to commence late in first-quarter 2025 or early second-quarter 2025.

Ocean BlackRhino has dynamic-positioning, dual-activity capability, maximum hook-load capacity of 1,250 tons, two seven-ram blowout preventers, water depth capabilities up to 12,000 ft, and drilling depth capabilities up to 40,000 ft.

BOE Exploration & Production LLC is a unit of Beacon Offshore Energy LLC.
