Exploration in Western Australia is well on the way to recovery from its mid-1980s slump. That's the view of Jeff Carr, the Australian state's Minister for Mines, Fuel, and Energy. Western Australian exploratory drilling is expected to total 36 wells in 1990 compared with 18 in 1989. Looking to 1991, Carr said the industry expects to conduct about 80,000 line km of seismic survey in Western Australia, far exceeding the record in 1982.
