Maha Energy AB started a multiwell production test on Block 70, onshore Oman.

Maha Energy AB started a multiwell production test on Block 70, onshore Oman.

The test will include all eight new production wells drilled in the 2022-2023 drilling program, starting with Mafraq-9. A new well will be added biweekly to the test until all new wells are connected to the testing system, the company said in a release last week.

Each well will be completed with PCP pumps before being placed on test. Produced oil will be transported by heated trucks to a third party for further processing and transportation through the Omani national pipeline system.

Maha could release preliminary information about the quality of the oil and initial production potential by May 2023.

In 2022, Maha Energy AB, through its subsidiary Maha Energy (Oman) Ltd., agreed to farm out 35% of its 100% operated interest in Block 70 onshore Oman to Mafraq Energy LLC (OGJ Online, Aug. 8, 2022). Maha holds 65% and is operator of the oil-bearing block, which contains Mafraq field.
