OMV Norge AS has been granted a drilling permit by The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for an exploration well in Norwegian Sea license PL 644.
Well 6506/11-12 S, the second in the license, will be drilled from the Island Innovator semi-submersible rig 4 km west of Morvin field. The area in the license consists of parts of Blocks 6506/8, 6506/10, and 6506/11.
The drilling program for the well relates to the drilling of an appraisal well in the license (OGJ Online, May 13, 2020).
OMV is operator of the license with 30% interest. Partners are DNO, 20%; Equinor 40%; and Spirit Energy, 10%.
