bp has let a contract to Transocean Ltd. for the Deepwater Invictus drillship in the Gulf of Mexico.

bp plc has let a contract to Transocean Ltd. for the Deepwater Invictus drillship in the Gulf of Mexico.

The contract will extend for 1,095 days and will commence in first-quarter 2025. It will contribute about $531 million to Transocean in backlog, excluding additional services and a mobilization fee, the rig provider said in a release. 

Deepwater Invictus is an ultradeep activity drillship capable of operating in 12,000 ft of water.
