LONDON, Oct. 25 -- Full gas production of 27.5 billion cu m/year has been achieved on schedule in the Pestsovaya area of the Urengoyskoye gas-condensate field in Russia, OAO Gazprom, the field's operator, said.
The field, which is producing gas and condensate via 146 operational wells, was commissioned in 2004 and will be a major supply source for Russia (OGJ, July 16, 2005).
A 47-km pipeline transports gas from Pestsovaya to a gas treatment unit. Other supporting infrastructure includes water intake facilities and autonomous life-support systems, engineering grids, and gas, water, and energy networks.
"Over the past 5 years Gazprom has brought into operation the Zapolyarnoye, Vyngayakhinskoye, Yen-Yakhinskoye, Yety-Purovskoye fields as well as the Tab-Yakhinsky prospect of the Urengoyskoye field and Aneryakhinskaya area of the Yamburgskoye field. Now we have the Pestsovaya area fully operational. The total design capacity of these fields and prospects averages 170 billion cu m/year of gas," Gazprom said.
Discovered in 1974, the Pestsovaya area of Urengoyskoye field is in the Nadym region of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, 150 km northwest of Novy Urengoy. Construction work began at Pestsovaya in 2002.
Urengoygazprom—a major gas production company within Gazprom—is developing Pestsovaya.
