Aker BP granted Norwegian shelf drilling permit

Aker BP ASA has been granted a drilling permit by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for well 6506/5-1 S on the Norwegian shelf.

Aker BP ASA has been granted a drilling permit by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for well 6506/5-1 S on the Norwegian shelf.

The well—the first to be drilled in PL 1008—will be drilled about 38 km northwest of Heidrun field and 230 km west of Brønnøysund from Odfjell Drilling Ltd.’s Deepsea Nordkapp dynamically positioned harsh-environment semisubmersible drilling rig after the drilling of development wells on Skogul field in production license 460 in the central part of the North Sea, where Aker BP ASA is operator (OGJ Online, Nov. 12, 2019).

Aker BP ASA is operator of PL 1008 with 60% interest. Wellesley Petroleum AS holds the remaining 40%.

The area in the license consists of part of Block 6506 and part of Block 6507.
