bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) spudded its first well on Cypre gas field offshore Trinidad, 78 km off the southeast coast within East Mayaro block in 80 m of water.

Cypre is part of bpTT’s next major offshore gas project and is bpTT’s third subsea development. It lies in 80 m of water and will connect gas from Cypre field via via two new 14 km flexible flowlines to bpTT’s Juniper platform off Trinidad’s southeast coast. At peak, the development is expected to deliver average gas production of 250-300 MMscfd.

The well is the first of seven to be drilled. First gas is expected in 2025.
