TransCanada Corp. has launched an open season to solicit additional binding commitments for transportation of crude oil on the Keystone pipeline system, including the 36-in. OD Keystone XL pipeline.
TransCanada will take binding bids for transportation capacity until 12 p.m. MDT on Sept. 28. The Keystone system would link Hardisty, Alta., to markets in Cushing, Okla., and the US Gulf Coast.
The US Department of State in March issued a presidential permit for Keystone XL more than 8 years after TransCanada originally sought cross-border approval of the project (OGJ Online, Mar. 24, 2017). Keystone XL would link Hardisty to Steele City, Neb.
The Nebraska Public Service Commission will determine by late November whether to approve the Nebraska segment of Keystone XL.
