GeoPark Ltd. has drilled and completed its Chachalaca 1 exploration well on Llanos 34 Block in Colombia. The company tested the 12,270-ft well, which produced 1,100 bo/d of 30° gravity oil with 6% water cut, the company said.
The productive zone is 11,606 ft in the Mirador formation, and further testing is under way to determine the extent of the field.
GeoPark operates the Llanos 34 Block with 45% working interest. The company restarted its drilling campaign in June with two rigs working in the country. It is drilling two wells, appraisal well Tilo 2 and the Jacana 1 exploration well. The company expects to test these wells in the following weeks.
Chachalaca is the operator’s seventh oil field discovery since it entered Llanos 34 Block in 2012 (OGJ Online, June 17, 2013).
