Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) is investigating a fire that took place on Mar. 6 at the resid hydrodesulfurization plant of its 315,000-b/d Miguel Hidalgo refinery in Tula, Hidalgo, Mexico.
The fire, which occurred in a leaking hydrogen compressor at the plant, led to only minor damages and resulted in no injuries, Pemex said.
Following the fire’s containment and securing of operating equipment in the area, U-3200 of the refinery’s 50,000-b/d H-Oil (U-3100, U-3200) plant and other unidentified processes in the sector returned to normal operations, the state-owned company said.
An investigation into the root cause of the fire is currently under way, Pemex said.
Details regarding the precise nature of damages sustained as a result of the incident were not disclosed.
