Suncor Energy begins planned maintenance at Montreal refinery
Suncor Energy Inc. has started planned maintenance at its 137,000-b/d Montreal, Que., refinery, the company said.
Designed to support safe, reliable operation of the refinery, the scheduled maintenance will last about 11 weeks and involve about 1,800 employees and contract workers, Suncor said.
While Suncor did not disclose details regarding the specific nature or scope of scheduled work, the company did say impacts to crude throughputs and utilization rates at the refinery already have been factored into Suncor’s annual guidance.
The company previously advised of the third-quarter planned work project at the Montreal refinery in late May following the conclusion of its most recent scheduled maintenance at the site (OGJ Online, May 27, 2014).
In early September, Suncor also began planned maintenance at both its 142,000-b/d refinery in Edmonton, Alta., and 85,000-b/d refinery in Sarnia, Ont. (OGJ Online, Sept. 9, 2014). Turnaround projects at the Edmonton refinery were scheduled to last about 4 weeks, while the Sarnia refinery was scheduled for an 8-week period of maintenance activities, the company said.
