HOUSTON, Dec. 2—Sonatrach awarded Technip a contract for the refurbishment and revamping of the Algiers refinery.
The 38-month turnkey contract for $908 million covers execution of the complete project, including the design, equipment supply, construction, and start-up.
The revamp of the existing installations will enable refining capacity to be increased to 3.6 million tone/year from 2.7 tonnes/year.
The new units will allow the refinery to produce gasoline at specifications similar used in Europe.
