HOUSTON, Jan. 8 -- Antrim Energy Inc., Calgary, said the 16th well in its 2006 19-well drilling program in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, tested successfully.
The Los Flamencos (LFa) 1005 well tested 7.1 MMcfd of gas with associated liquids from a 7 m (net) perforated interval. Flowing wellhead pressure was 597 psi. Antrim said further testing using larger capacity test equipment would be required to determine long-term flow rates.
LFa-1005 was drilled to 2,250 m through the Cretaceous Springhill formation in an area identified as a potential new pool in an undrilled fault block south of recently discovered Los Patos oil field.
Antrim and partners have started to acquire a new 260 sq km 3D seismic program in the Tierra del Fuego area, and additional 3D seismic programs are planned for this year. The seismic will allow Antrim to identify both infield development locations and undrilled fault block exploration locations for its 2-year drilling campaign scheduled to start in the second quarter.
Antrim holds a 25.78% working interest in the Tierra del Fuego concession.
