TotalEnergies and China Petroleum and Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) signed a strategic cooperation agreement to deepen their collaboration, notably in low-carbon energies.

The two companies have partnered for years in upstream operations in Angola and Brazil, and more generally in various domains such as oil, LNG, oil product trading, and engineering. Most recently, in April, the companies signed a heads of agreement to develop a 230,000 tonnes/year (tpy) sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production unit at a Sinopec refinery in China.

As part of the new cooperation agreement, the companies aim to expand their partnership combining research and development expertise in biofuels, green hydrogen, CCUS, and decarbonization.
