ExxonMobil Guyana has discovered additional hydrocarbons in the Stabroek block offshore Guyana. The operator confirmed the discovery, the first for 2024, in a press release Mar. 15.
The Bluefin well, drilled by the Stena Drillmax drillship in 1,294 m (4,244 ft) of water, encountered about 60 m (197 ft) of hydrocarbon-bearing sandstone.
Bluefin lies about 8.5 km southeast of the Sailfin-1 well, in the southeastern portion of the block.
The Bluefin discovery joins the more than 30 already made on the Stabroek block since 2015.
