TotalEnergies E&P UK (TEPUK) has let a flare gas recovery contract to Wood PLC in the North Sea as part of the Elgin-Franklin flare gas recovery system project.
The contract follows Wood’s completion of a field study and front-end engineering design (FEED). It includes coordination of operations, procurement, and design aspects for the Elgin asset. The contract duration is 23 months.
The gas recovery project forms part of TEPUK’s carbon footprint reduction roadmap and will redirect gas that would have previously been flared through a new compressor system offshore to be treated and then reused.
Elgin-Franklin field is a series of high pressure, high temperature gas reservoirs in Block 22/30b and Block 22/30c of the UK sector of the North Sea, about 200 km due east of Aberdeen in a water depth of 92 m. The Elgin Franklin complex currently consists of four wellhead platforms (Elgin A, Elgin B, Franklin, and West Franklin) with the Elgin A well head platform linked to the Elgin process, utilities, and quarters (PUQ) platform by a bridge. The Franklin well head platform is linked by a subsea pipeline bundle and umbilical. The infrastructure is expected to be operational until 2040.
The field is operated by TotalEnergies (15.7%), with partners EF Oil & Gas Ltd. (10.4%), TotalEnergies Offshore UK Ltd. (20%), ENI Elgin/Franklin Ltd. (21.7%), Premier Oil UK Ltd. (19.3%), NEO Energy Petroleum Ltd. (4.4%), Ithaca SP E&P Ltd. (6%), and One-Dyas E&P Ltd. (2.2%).
